Odyssey Joins Forces with Captain Tommy Moore to Clean Up Little Bay!
Odyssey's Kids of Character recently removed 15 bags of trash from the shores of little bay. Captain Tommy Moore, a long time supporter of Odyssey, coordinated the effort. Through our Kids of Character program, students in the Odyssey After School Enrichment Program are participating in “service learning” activities in which learning goals are promoted through community service. The program, which recently received financial support from the Trull Foundation, engages the children in service activities that contribute to the community while providing children with opportunities for teamwork, leadership, responsibility, citizenship, and environmental stewardship.

Every Tuesday afternoon we have groups of children active around town. So far this year they’ve adopted ‘GrandFriends’ at our local nursing homes, helped serve meals at Community Table, picked up trash at the Rockport Beach Park, and made holiday ornaments for Good Samaritan. Kids of Character has been a wonderful addition to our afterschool activities; the children love ‘working’ to make improvements around town and we are very grateful to the Trull Foundation’s grant which enables us to offer this program.
